Saturday, Ericwas so very gracious to lead me and 2 other birders, we met, around to a few spots that he is familiar with. He was also so kind as to let me hook up my camera to his 600mm lens (mmm-mmmm-mmmmm!!!!) Thanx Eric!!!!!!!!! Sunday, i went to one of my favorite spots, a swamp in Sudbury, Mass.

1. Long-eared Owl. This was the start of Saturday's "Journey" around eastern Mass.. iso 200 600mm + 1.4X TC f/5.6 1/640 EC -1 1/3 on tripod. Way up in a pine and refused to look down on us.

2. Wood Duck male. Unfortunately there is motion blur. The prettiest of ducks!!! 20D 100-400mm @400mm iso 200 f/7.1 1/60 EC +2/3 handheld

3. Ring-necked Duck male. This is the first I've ever seen these and wouldn't come to close. Pretty bird! iso 200 100-400mm @400mm f/6.3 1/250 EC +2/3 handheld

4. White-breasted Nuthatch. Sunday, as beautiful a day it was, didn't seem to be a very active day at the swamp 100-400mm @400mm iso 200 f/7.1 1/250 EC +2/3 handheld

Good job on the long eared. It really is a pity that it didn't look down. You really never know when you go there what you'll get. Some times they are more awake than others. It is often a time of day thing (no shock) but it isn't always.

Very nicely done on the ring neck. I like them as well, and don't normally see them as close as we got that time. I didn't get many that were very good that trip, but it was fun to hang out there. I didn't get to go on Sunday 'cause I was working on prints for showing tonight. Wish I had, it looked like it was a good day to be out.
