These are immigrants who have settled in the United States and while at first they were "ornamental," they decided to go wild and forget about the bread crumbs.

The first two pictures are from respectively a half and a full mile away. The first image is heavily cropped, the second almost full frame. They're heading for Sheepshead Bay. Probably one of the many decent restaurants.

These second images of a different Swan entirely were shot from a 100 yards or so. The building in the background is Brooklyn Community College and is three miles away.

I use a Nikon D2x and a Swarovski spotting scope with, in this case, the 1100mm camera adapter.
