Male Cardinal taken with the Nikon D50 through an Orion 80 ED F7.5/600mm telescope. This is my first attempt using this setup. It was cloudy and late afternoon, so the lighting could have been better.

Wow! The image from your setup looks very good. Nice and sharp and I love the composition with the bird looking over shoulder. Nice job on the crop too - good balance between bird and background. How far where you from the subject?

Thanks for the comments KEM. I was about 15 yards from the subject. I'm impressed at the possibilities of this setup. With the 1.5x factor on the Nikon D50 the setup becomes a 900mm lens. Focus is tricky though as my eyesight is not the best.

Visited a slough on the Flat River that usually has a few ducks in it. These are wild, so I had to sneak in from a high bank and shoot through tall grasses. This was taken from about 30 yards/meters away with the same setup. I tried to get closer, but they spooked. I'm impressed how this simple setup can capture sharp high power images.
