These shots are of four or five different species of Gull. I was about twenty miles from these birds, and these are full frame shots, with close crops...

What size len's were you using(if you were really twenty miles from them )? Those are neat pictures by the way.

Twenty miles is what I consider a "close shot." For longer distances, I shoot around the earth's curvature...:blah:

Well, maybe not. Would you believe 1100mm?

Yes, and I've developed a nifty new method of using my monopode. I now set it down on the tip of my boot. Up till now, although my stuff is mounted on a monopode, I basically shoot handheld. Placing it on the tip of my boot, took some getting used to, but it has paid off.

Sweet!! I was beginning to think you had some connections with a Spy Satelite Camera or something. You should take/post some pictures of the moon with that thing. I think there's a full moon tonight.
