I was looking through the trees today and stumbled on this very young yellow throated miner. As he has yet to be educated he had no fear of me so I could walk right up to him, so much so that I actually was too close for my lens focal length. I had not been looking at him long before his mother turned up screaming at me, swooping etc. She sat just out of my reach looking very agitated at me being as close to her baby as I was.



first two shots are the baby, hard to show in the photos but he about half the size of the adult bird

And I love the story. A classic outraged Mom. Must have been telling off the kid too. "Didn't I tell you about the buggiehumans? Didn't I? No worms for you tonight!"
