I'm having trouble looking up what kind of bird this is. I figured you folks were a heck of a lot more experienced than me at wildlife shots.

By the way, this is my first bird shot.

Pretty good shot for a first post!

This is a bluebird, probably a male Western Bluebird. If you would include in your post the location where the image was shot it will always aid people in making an identification when requested to do so.

Sorry guys, Lousiana is just a bit far from me! I took this picture near a pond by my apartment complex, which is just over the hill from a bog (called the Celery Bog for some reason). I'm in Indiana.

This is the Western subspecies of the Eastern Bluebird...:G

Siala sialis fulva. There's no emoticon that quite covers my reactions....Maybe, heh, he heh....

Yeah, it's the Eastern Bluebird for sure. I was a little iffy about whether it was eastern or western based on the amount of blue I was seeing on the throat but the location nails it for sure.

Sorry it wasn't the woodpecker you wanted it to be Dave...
