Hull, thanx for the reply and I don't mind another's image in my posts as long as it is the correct bird. In this case yours is not a pileated woodpecker.

Hello again dennis, I couldn´t agree more with you, in fact i think that friendship is one of the main reason for us posting in a forum.

Another thing is that i´ve been doing some research about the bird i have posted, and it came out to be a member of the woodpecker family, originaly located in south america.

"...Woodpeckers come in a great variety of shapes and colors. One group are the flickers which specialize in feeding on the ground, often focussing on ants. The Campo Flicker (right) of southern South America is such a species and a very striking bird to boot. Yet even it has the stiffly pointed specialized tail feathers that held woodpeckers perch vertically on tree trunks".

here is a link to it: http://www.montereybay.com/creagrus/woodpeckers.html

Again, hope you wouldn´t mind .

Hull, no problem!! it loks like you have a Campo Flicker. I thought it was some kind of flicker but, couldn't ID it due to being a South American bird when I noticed you are in Argentina. Keep getting out there and I look forward to seeing a lot of "exotic" birds from your part of the world!!
