Default Wild Sea Otter Colony

Another photo taken on my recent trip around Vancouver Island. We were directed by locals to a sea otter colony near Kyoquot on the West Coast of Vancouver Island. There were about 60 of them in the area. They are a treat to watch. One of them seems to have a big smile on his face!

That a great shot. I just love to watch otters, and to be able to see them in the wild in such a large group must have been very exciting. Again great shot.

I've never seen so many at once! What a great experience! Nice photo, too.

Thanks for taking the time to comment Brooks and Purrcat.
Yes, it was great to see so many of them at one time. Until then we had only seen them one at a time. I will post a shot of one of them with a clam on his chest and another in his paws. He was hitting them together to break the shells - quite noisy!
Regards.

What great expressions! I noticed the jolly one right away, too. Also the two in the middle wondering what planet you came from! Sounds like it was a wonderful trip. Great picture, Bill.

Is that a gaggle of Sea Otters Bill? Not sure what you call a bunch of Sea Otters but you sure have a great shot there. I love the expressions on their faces.

Thanks for the comments Christie, Margaret and Tom.
It sure was fun watching them. I'm sure glad that we were able to go back and see the sea otters. We had passed right by them the day before and they must have blended in with the kelp as we didn't see them at all!
