I went back to Bow Lake north of Lake Louise and found some more Pikas.

Neat shots, Jim! I not a fan of rodents (long story!) but this guy actually looks pretty personable! What kinda lens did you use???

Ron - I used a Canon 300 F4 with a 1.4 extender on a 30D. In the first shot, thePika was quite far off so I did a major crop. I've attached the original to show you.

Good captures! whenever I use my 2x tc on any of my lenses, the shots turn out grainy. I guess it's just too much. I've used it a couple of times trying to getwintering bald eagles on the Mississippi but just didn't like the results ... nothing as clear as yours. Now that I got a 170-500mm Sigma a couple of months ago, it may time to get rid of it on ebay & see if I can find a decent 1.4 for a good price.
