At first, I thought these were Snipes, but when I checked the bird book, it says that snipes have a striped head, and are loners. They also vary in colouring from grayish to a rusty brown. There was a small flock of these hanging out together at the pond. Wouldn't want to get poked by one of those beaks....cheers.......Don.

2 It looks a little displeased with me....a little o.o.f. on this I think, but I like the pose..
