Not sure what you are looking for. I just used selective color and darkened the sky. Then I selected the sky with the magic wand, inverted the selection and brought the levels back up for the houses.

I could have just selected the sky and darkened it, then inverted and brightened the lightning stroke and houses. Selective color gives better control of the sky color.

Well first I selected the sky and changed the contrast and brightness and sturation to make the lighning stand out. Then I saved the image. I opened up the original and selected the sky again. I deleted the sky, so everything, but the house was white. Then I selected the white with the magic wand and inverted the selection and I copied the inverted selection into the saved edited lightning image. I moved the copied inverted selection (house) and moved almost to the bottom of the image and cropped it, to make it look better. Finally I ran them through a noise removal software and removed the noise.

Level adjustment, dupe layer set to hard light, desaturate the blue chanel to -30, resize to 640x480, remove some noise, post here for all to mock...:blah: I am still not real happy with the color of the blue in the sky, but didn't spend too much time on it.
