Hi all, well, I don't have any problems with resizing a photo from large to lower scales. However, there must be a vise versa procedure or something. I tries PS CS2 Image Size to increase the size, however, the image gets really blurry and noisy. I tried several plugins and other softwares still no use.

Check the attached photo. How can I increase its size and resolution to 800x600 let's say, or even larger?

thanks

Hi, sorry to rain on your parade, but the size of that picture file is only 24 K/Bytes, it's extremely doubtful that any worthwhile size increase ...the info has been compressed out of the file, There are add-on programs like Alien Skin Blowup or Genuine Fractals for PS, that are supposed to be able to enlarge without too much loss in picture quality, but I'm sure they need a reasonable basic quality to start with. You can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear. ... Jack

This is my best effort. I use sinc64 interpolation and did some edge mask sharpening to produce the 800x600 image. As was mentioned there isn't alot to work with to begin with:

I think "Geniune Fractal" plugin in PS would be the answer for your predicament.

My attempt:

Really, that's not much to work with in your original picture... can't expect too much.

Mixture of fractal and wiener interpolation with inbetween deconvolution and a little touchup, because original looked a little "flat" when at full 800+ resolution.

Have fun.

2nd attempt, 2 step wiener interpolation with a little fixup and deconvolution, added a small amount of white noise to enhance some details (face, blouse). It still looks quite natural, although not pin-sharp... to my mind closer to a photo than a fractal-interpolation only.

Blow Up added some grain so it doesn't look quite as much like a painting. There still isn't enough detail to look good though.

Blow Up with high grain, then run through light noise removal.
