![]() Just a shot of my GF and thought it was clear as a whistle would have been nice with a detter background to give it a bit more depth:roll: ![]() |

WOW, what a fantastic edit. And your GF is very beautiful, nice hair, gorgeous eyes.
the original would look great BW in my opinion, b/c of the added texture....but in color, kens edit ROX!!! ![]() (refilling my coffee and waiting intently for another one of ken's amazingly helpful photoshop fordummies tutorial) -lynne |

Nice shot Red, she is very pretty.
Great edit Ken..I am eagerly awaiting the tutorial. ![]() Urbanaries, I like your first edit too. Did you desaturate her skin only, or was there more involved? Meiko |

The Picture Sharing Forums are for just that. But this one went from an image of his GF to everyone jumping on it to modify it. So now it's here.

great edit
well this is how i dd the tight selection 1) open image 2) Duplicate layer 3) go into channels adjustment tab 4) Now try differnet channels on there own (blue, red green) until you find one that creates the biggest contrast on the backing. In this case the Blue channel worked well. 5) drag the blue channel down so it duplicates this layer. 6) now open your levels adjustments and mess with the highlight and lo end until a nice dark silo is created. Keep laying until you see the hair detail looking nice and sharp. 6) Use a brush tool and draw black into the subject to create a full selection darkening in any spots needed 7) Do the opposite with the backing, brushing white onto it. 8) Now drag the copied channel down to make selection icon at the bottom 9) got back into the layers and slect the top layer and press delete to kill all the white in the image. 10) now you have seperated the subject and the backing 11) Now you can do whatever you want to do to the bottom layer to blur etc. 12) In my case i used a gaussian blurring. But if you just simply blur the backing image you will start to see the haze of the blurring behind the subject and this gives the image an annoying soft halo look. to couter this i simply edited the base layer by cloning the edges off the subject (see the shot below) so nothing bleeds over 13) enable the top layer again to see the finsihed look 14) thn you can merge or flatten the image and your done. You can see the images below sorta. SOrry its a bit rushed. ken |
