Sorry Paul, you brought me out of my hidey hole. I can see how you got the "predictable" colors right, but the ribbon above his left pocket. What was your influence in choosing those colors. Just curious. Nice job, overall, by the way.

The original bar is under the colored one. The gray vertical stripes were a rough indication of a color breakdown. Just not which colors. I looked up his wartime record and he received 3 medals. The ribbons of each medal were different, of course, and I chose the one that matched his bar most closely. I then just cut and pasted that ribbon bar over his. Then I toned back the colors. I guessed on his eye color, but the lightness of the original leaned more to a lighter color like blue as compared to a darker shade like brown. As for the obvious colors, well the leather strap is what it is. The khaki color could be anything from more greenish to more brownish. I took a middle ground. hahaha

You did a great job on the entire portrait. I would have guessed his eyes to be blue also. I may have to try one of these, looks like a real challenge.
