Help!! This is one of my favorite photos of my wife and our dog, I took it late in the day and I can't seem to get the colors like they should be. Can any of you work a little magic with this?? Thanks in advance!

I moved this to a forum that relates more to your request...
Also, the colors are so saturated & the highlights so blown out, it might be better to convert it to B&W , Sepia or duo-tone (which I did here):

Here's my attempt. I did some minor levels adjustment, pulled the reds and yellows down a bit in an adjustment layer, and cooled the overall mix.

<edit> Looking at this again, it looks like I've over-compensated a little. I should have saved the layers so I could take another shot at it.

Here's my shot. Tried to reduce the brightness of the hightlights, reduced saturation and decreased the red a bit.
Changed it. Decided to let Elemets fix it with auto fix and then reduce saturation a bit. I thind Elements did a better job than I could by eye.

Late afternoon sun can give that golden glow that lots of folks find attractive. Without knowing exactly what the colors should be, I'm guessing on the color balance. I tend to be biased a bit toward the cool side. Once the saturation is lowered, the blown highlights on the cheek and nose become more noticeable. For small areas as you have in this photo, I like to add a bit of grain, which gives the appearance of texture.

wow, that is hard, I guess those aren`t meant to be color corrected, here is an attempt, but I admit with all the work I do in PS, I never quite had a shot like this so I was a little stumped...
