Ive tried with another shot by doing sepia, I did not get anywhere with the land mass in the background. I would like to make it look authentic old, I also like the color. Your welcome to play with this one to give some Ideas.:-)

Julie, I have played with this and produced several variations.

Using an action I have written to age photos, methods used in PS and with various filters.

But rather than post them all here, I strongly suggest, if you haven't already, you download (FREE) Virtual Photographer, from OptikVerve

There are many, many filters. All presets can be adjusted to suit. There are a lot of 'aging' filters as well as a multitude of other effects.

In fact, I highly recommend everyone to try it.

Unfortunately it is only for the PC, but is compatible with Photoshop (all versions including Elements), Paint shop Pro, Photo-paint and others !!

Don't forget to download 'Additional Settings' from the same page.

The image below was done with Virtual Photographer with a couple of clicks !

Lot easier to get rid of the rock once you have applied the effect.

Most of it is gone in this one, clone it out then redraw the ropes from the sails by using the eyedropper to select the colour of the rope then the paintbrush (very, very small ;)), click once with the brush at 'one end' then move the cursor to the other end, hold the shift key and click once more. A straight line !!

Always start a 'new' line by clicking once first, them move to the other end etc, otherwise you could ending up criss crossing all over the ship !

Here is my take on it, I did not 100% mask, I did a little extra in the ropes then played with some color tweaks until the canvas layer (actual canvas not texture) blend hid most of the issue of the rock/land mass. Pakyed with colors and sharpeness until I got the feel I wanted.

stitch babe, what programme did you use for these?

StitchBabe Jan 10, 2006 10:51 AM

Hi Lady,

I used PS for this edit. It's a matter of high contrast and some desaturation with added noise and a mask to darken the corners a bit.
